World Class Professor 2023

Congratulations! The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Bengkulu, Indonesia, led by Dr. Lindung Zalbuin Mase, has been awarded the prestigious #WorldClassProfessor #WCP2023 Program grant from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. Among 169 participants, they were one of the 40 recipients selected.

Dr. Lindung Zalbuin Mase will collaborate with Prof. Suched Likitlersuang from the Centre of Excellence on Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering (CEGGE) at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. Under the WCP 2023 program, scheduled from August to November 2023, various activities will take place, including guest and exchange lectures, site visits, sabbatical leave for researchers, joint publication in top-tier journals, and research collaboration. Dr. Lindung Mase will be a Visiting Researcher at CEGGE, while Prof. Suched Likitlersuang will serve as a World Class Professor at the University of Bengkulu, Indonesia. This program aims to strengthen both teams' research capabilities in liquefaction studies within the Southeast Asia Region.

Graduate Seminar 2023

Dr. Lindung Zalbuin Mase visited the Centre of Excellence on Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering (CEGGE) at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand as a visiting scholar from 1 – 30 September 2023. He is collaborating with Prof. Suched Likitlersuang under the World Class Professor (WCP) 2023 program supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. During this visit, he delivered a lecture entitled "Processes and Identification of Soil Liquefaction Disasters for Infrastructure" to the graduate students of the Geotechnical Engineering Division.

Visiting Professor 2023

Prof. Suched Likitlersuang and Dr. Weeradecth Tanapalungkorn visited Bengkulu University on 2 October 2023, to deliver lectures to students and discuss their research experiences with faculty members from the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Bengkulu University, Indonesia. The visit and activities were supported by the World Class Professor (WCP) 2023 program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.

Collaboration Research 2023

Prof. Suched Likitlersuang and Dr. Weeradecth Tanapalungkorn from Centre of Excellence in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University together with Dr. Lindung Zalbuin Mase from Bengkulu University visited Bandung, Indonesia from 3 to 5 October 2023, to undertake various research activities. These activities included delivering lectures to students and faculty members from the Department of Civil Engineering at Bandung State Polytechnic, conducting field investigations on liquefactions due to Cianjur Earthquake 2022, and engaging in discussions on earthquake research experiences with faculty members from the geotechnical engineering group at the Bandung Institute of Technology. This visit and the associated activities received support from the World Class Professor (WCP) 2023 program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.

Collaboration University of Bengkulu and Chulalongkorn University

Dr. Heri Suhartoyo (Sekretaris LPPM Unib) dan Dr. Lindung Zalbuin Mase (dosen FT Unib) melakukan pertemuan dengan Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University on 12 Nov 2019. Tujuan pertemuan ini adalah untuk mendiskusikan kolaborasi riset intensif antara Unib dan Chulalongkorn University. Unib akan mendirikan Pusat Unggulan terkait Geotechnical Hazard dan akan berkerjasama dengan Centre of Excellence in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering (CEGGE), Chulalongkorn University.

Dr Heri Suhartoyo dan Dr Lindung Zalbuin Mase bertemu dengan Prof. Dr. Suched Likitlersuang dan Prof. Dr. Teerapong Senjuntichai, Prof. Dr. Suched adalah Kepala CEGGE-Centre of Excellence in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering (CEGGE) dan Prof. Dr. Teerapong adalah Kepala Department of Civil Engineering, Dept of Civil Engineering, Chulalongkorn University.

Dr Lindung Zalbuin Mase saat ini juga menjalankan riset kolaborasi dengan Prof Suched. Penelitian ini didukung oleh support dari lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Unib. Riset yang kami kolaborasikan bersama Chulalongkorn University adalah mengusulkan metode pemetaan kerentanan likuifaksi yang mengacu pada parameter utama penentu likuifaksi yaitu tekanan air pori akibat beban gempa dari hasil analisis perambatan gelombang seismik dari metode elemen hingga. Metode ini sebelumnya secara intensif telah dikembangkan oleh Dr. Lindung Zalbuin Mase bersama Prof. Suched Likitlersuang (Chulalongkorn University) dan Associate Professor. Tetsuo Tobita (Kansai University). Saat ini proses zonasi kerentanan sedang berlangsung. Kedepannya zonasi kerentanan likuifaksi di wilayah Bengkulu akan dapat diketahui dan menjadi rujukan dalam perencanaan tata ruang dan wilayah di Kota Bengkulu.

Collaboration University of Bengkulu and BRIN

Dosen Program Studi (Prodi) Informatika Universitas Bengkulu (Unib), Arie Vatresia, S.T., M.T.I., Ph.D., melakukan kolaborasi riset dengan peneliti Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN), Arnida L Latifah, Ph.D., untuk meningkatkan resolusi citra remote sensing. Kolaborasi ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan interpretasi terhadap perubahan land cover dan land use change pada daerah konservasi.

Kolaborasi ini didasari oleh Perjanjian Kerja sama yang ditandatangani tanggal 31 Oktober 2023 oleh Kepala Pusat Riset Komputasi BRIN Dr. Rifki Sadikin, M.Kom dan Kepala Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Unib Ir. Hery Suhartoyo, M.Sc., PhD.
